AFROTAK TV cyberNomads

Berlin, Berlin, Germany

Business Details

We work for equal partnership Africa - Europe, the emancipation of the African Diaspora Germany and the equality of women and men.
Documenting, communicating and visualizing content of self determined initiatives for political education, media empowerment, liberation art and scientific African renaissance we aim at contributing to the architecture of an overall German-European culture that acknowledges its own power of defining the communication apparatus based on economic, political and cultural resources derived from a colonial past.
Only the acknowledgment of an imperial, racist past and present can empower black and white Germany to step into a future that is deriving its strength from the spirit of Diversity and understanding of its people. AFROTAK TV cyberNomads is a platform for perspectives of Black Germans, Afro Europeans and African Diaspora Germany and globally to complement the perspective of white experts and to correct it where necessary to draw a more realistic image of our world and contribute to an ecological sustainable future.

OUR PROJECTS
In 2001 AFROTAK TV cyberNomads promoted the digital architecture for an educational online databank to the Office for Civic Education of the German Government (BPB).
The portal premiered in 2002. We realized three major Media Conferences with local, national and international Black and African media. We collected speakers from academia, business, media and art and network them in Berlin. We developed an alliance of Europe-based African Publishers to market and promote the image of the African continent and black Europe.

The Black Media Network established over 4000 registered on- and offline contacts that lobby with the mainstream of Germany and Europe. The Black German Yello Pages constitute a first structural overview on the African scene in Germany as well as its links within Europe. We pitch our concepts to institutional cooperation partners and sponsors and stage our events at their locations (Goethe Institute Berlin, Heinrich Boell Foundation, and House of the Cultures of the World). We organized press conferences with Thomas Krueger - the head of the Office for Civic Education of the German Government to dispel media perceptions about Africa through effective communication strategies interfacing with the media.

We developed the MAY AYIM AWARD - a Pan-African International Black German Literature Award under umbrella ship of the German section of UNESCO and Published the Book May Ayim Award with Orlanda Publishing House.
Our publication The "Black Book" revisits the footnotes and documents German history to promote access and understanding of Africa..s history and Africa..s history in Germany and Europe.
